At just 7.6mm thick and weighing 112g the iPhone 5 is 20% lighter than the 4S. The new 4 inch Retina display is longer, not wider, so now there's a 5th row of icons on the homescreen. The iPhone 5 has the latest A6 quad-core chip delivering 2x faster performance compared to the A5 chip on previous models.

As well as offering 3G, HSPA+ and Wi-Fi, the iPhone 5 has 4G (LTE) support. 4G is currently only available in selected UK cities on the EE network but will become more widely available and on other networks later in 2013.

The camera on the iPhone 5 now has a hybrid IR filter, 5 elements lens, f/2.4 aperture and precision lens alignment. The 8 megapixel camera also has a panorama mode. You can take a slow sweep of the landscape and the iSight camera combines the images to create a stunning 28 megapixel panoramic photo. Video records at 1080p HD and includes face detection for up to 8 people. There's also a front facing 720p camera for use with FaceTime.

iOS 6 has more than 200 new features, the Maps app is now Apples own and it includes fantastic 3D detailing, turn-by-turn navigation and Flyover allowing you to get a bird's eye view of major cities and landmarks. Siri has also received an update with enhanced and improved usability; more answers to questions and it can now update your Facebook status too.
